My husband and sister are very fond of Heralekai pickle. I am not fond of it due to it’s light bitter taste but still prepare and consume it for it’s healthy benefits. Pitta (Biliousness) is kept under control with the regular usage of Heralekai though i would advise to use Heralekai in other forms rather than pickle, any type of pickles are not considered good for Blood pressure patients. Once in awhile it is okay.
One big Heralekai/Rough lime
1tbsp Fenugreek seeds
2tbsp Mustard seeds
5 Red chillies
Roast fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, red chillies separately and powder it together in a mixer. Chop Heralekai into medium chunks. Add turmeric and salt nearly 1/2 to 3/4thtbsp or according to the taste to this chunks, mix well. Add the powdered masala and mix again. Heat oil in a pan, add 1/2tsp of mustard seeds and add this seasoning to the pickle. Transfer it to a glass jar and leave it to marinate. Mix this Heralekai once in awhile. It will be marinated within 3 or 4 days.
