Dill leaves Chitranna

Kids make a fuss when it comes to green leafy vegetables. It is good if you include leafy greens in your recipes as they are packed with tons of health benefits. The best way is include them in the recipes that your kids love most, that way they will enjoy their food along with leafy greens.


1 Cup cooked rice

1 Lemon medium size.

1tsp Mustard seeds

1tsp Urad dal

1tsp Channa dal

5 or 6 curry leaves

2 or 3 chopped Green Chillies

1tblsp Groundnuts

1 bunch finely chopped Dill leaves

1 medium size chopped Onion



Coriander for Garnish.


Cook the rice and keep it ready.  Heat oil in a pan and start seasoning with mustard seeds, let it splutter, next add green chillies once it starts popping add urad dal, channa dal, curry leaves and groundnut, fry for a min, let it turn golden. Just light golden brown.

Now add chopped onions. As the onions turns translucent add dill leaves, lemon juice, turmeric, salt according to the taste and fry till the raw smell goes.  Add cooked rice and mix well. Garnish with Coriander leaves. Switch off the stove and serve hot.

Coconut chutney is a great combination with this Dill leaves chitranna.
