Halwa’s are one of my weakness, though i don’t like other sweets much halwa’s are sure in the fav list. One more thing that inspired me to do this halwa is the love for bottlegourd. I just love it!
2 bowls of grated Lauki
3/4 bowl sugar (or as required)
1 bowl milk
3 tbsp ghee
Cashewnuts, raisins, almonds for garnish
Heat ghee in non-stick pan. Fry all the nuts and raisins to golden brown one by one and keep aside. In same pan, add grated lauki. Fry for 6-7 mins on medium flame or till bottlegourd is tender but still you can bite it!
Add milk and cardamom powder and cook for another 10 minutes or till it is tender. Add sugar and cook for a minute. Adjust it according to your taste. Make sure halwa has absorbed milk to form flaky texture. Garnish with fried nuts and serve hot.
After googling for lauki halwa, i found this version interesting and it came out super tasty. For the original recipe click here.
