Pudina Rice

Pudina or Mint leaves rice is very simple to prepare and tastes great with coconut chutney. This rice is loved by kids as pudina rice is not spicy. Pudina rice tastes great with potato gravy too.



2 Cup rice

4 Cup water

2 Medium size sliced onions

2 large chopped tomatoes

2 cloves

1 inch cinnamon

4 or 5 crushed garlic cloves

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 tbsp Oil

1 tbsp ghee

A bunch of Mint/pudina leaves



Heat oil and ghee in a Pressure cooker pan add crushed garlic cloves next add sliced onions and fry it till translucent. Add cloves and cinnamon as whole or powdered, add chopped tomatoes to it and fry for few secs. Add turmeric powder, salt according to taste, pudina leaves and fry for a min.

Add 4 cups of water and rice to it. Pressure cook it for 2 whistles. Allow it to cool and mix it thoroughly. Pudina rice is ready to serve with Coconut chutney.


Serve with coconut chutney or pudina chutney and raita.
